The Educated Foot

Footwork patterns are a series of steps, starts, stances, turns, shifts and brakes. There are “out”, “recovery” and “brake” patterns (a footwork pattern being combination of all the above). All footwork patterns are glued together by a contact and balance move.

The educated foot = understanding how important the last step before the contact move is. The role of the educated foot is to gain balance and aid with timing of the contact move. Yes…. it is great to adjust your feet to the ball but the last step must be with great purpose and control. Make the last step bigger and better than the previous one.
